How can I advocate love when hate lives within so many? We are taught to hate our enemies. Once someone is labeled the enemy, it becomes easy to hate and commit all kinds of horrific crimes – wars, homicide, genocide. Even if emotions don’t escalate all the way to hate, there’s an innate suspicion and dislike of people who are different races, ethnicity, religion and sexual preference. Why is it so hard to love our neighbors as ourselves? What will it take for love to win?
Do we need an invasion from another planet for us to unite and love each other? Maybe if spacemen were blowing us up, we wouldn’t have time to kill ourselves fast or destroy our planet slowly.
I believe in love because it is the only thing that can save us. Magical and mystical, love allows us to care deeply about others and not just ourselves. Empathy, ethics, and sympathy are all rooted in love.
When I write songs of love, they range from agape, one love “Free Mama Earth” and “No Homelessness” to romantic “When love is right, we talk all through the night about dreams and desires, then light a fire when love is right…”
Love wins when we follow the Golden Rule – do unto others as you would have them do unto you and forgive.
Meditate on that…
Peace and One Love…
