Some of my fans call me “Ms. One Love” because I say “One Love” every day; sing about One Love; and try my best to live One Love. It’s easy to love those who love you. The challenge is loving your enemies. “Far from being the pious injunction of a utopian dreamer, this command is an absolute necessity for the survival of our civilization.” (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.) Dr. King is not talking about romantic or affectionate love for racist murderers; rather the love is “agape” – “unselfish love of another person…corresponding to the love of God for humankind.” So, I wrote an entire album of One Love, social justice songs shining a light on issues like racism, mass incarceration, homelessness, hopelessness, immigration, taking away voting rights, destruction of our environment, and poverty, which affects all races. “Whether you are black, white, red, brown, or yellow, increasingly everyone just wants to see some more green – U.S. currency, that is.” (John Hope Bryant) I put my soul into writing and singing these songs, accompanied by world class musicians, in the hope that they will touch hearts and help transform more people into “agape“ lovers.
I’m dropping a separate album (“eros” – passionate and romantic love songs) at the same time my One Love social justice album is released. All of the songs I write express emotions and thoughts that people all over the world can relate to. The excitement of first love, new love; the heartbreak of lost love, and everything in between. One of the things I’ve learned during my years of traveling to other countries is that we all bleed the same blood and share the same needs (air, water, love, sex, food). So, I’m inviting everyone to share my musical journey. I can barely wait for you to hear my new music.
One Love…
