When I was in first grade, I passed a lollipop and note to Jesse, this cute boy in my class, with those simple words: “Would you be my Valentine?” He wrote 2 letters on the note, “NO” and passed it back to me. He kept the “lolli.” I laughed then and I’m still laughing. Valentine’s Day and every day is all about attitude.
I could have started crying or held my head down in shame, but I chose to tell jokes to my girlfriends instead. It took me a while before I worked up my nerves and asked another boy to be my Valentine. The second time was the right time because he said YES.
I love “LOVE.” That’s why I wrote the lyrics for “Together.” “Like Cupid and Valentine; chocolate and fine wine; we belong together. I love the sound of your voice; glad I’m your choice and you’re mine and we’re together…When we’re together; don’t want it to end. You are my lover, my true friend. When we’re together; time won’t stand still. You are my heartbeat. You’re my thrill…”
One Love…
