While running on the beach this morning, I experienced enlightenment; as in the lights came on in my mind and I understood that I will never understand. All day I have enjoyed a level of peace unlike anything I’ve known before after that one moment of enlightenment running the same path on the same beach that I’ve run thousands of times.
I will no longer try to understand why people stockpile nuclear weapons to “keep us safe” when nukes can blow up millions of people, animals and poison our air and water or why fossil fuel corporations, like cigarette companies, knowingly and willfully hide evidence that the product they sell will cause climate change and cancer (slow suicide). I don’t understand “doublespeak.” (In George Orwell’s book “1984” doublespeak is a language that deliberately distorts, disguises or reverses the meaning of words.”War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.” )
Now I’m even more committed to doing the things I do understand, like loving my family and friends; creating music; and helping save the environment for our children and future generations.
