One of my earliest memories is writing a love note to my dear mother complimenting her beauty and begging her not to send me to school. I wanted to stay home with her forever and play. She kissed me, put the note on the fridge and read my favorite story, but the next morning, she escorted my crying little body to the spot where the gigantic yellow school bus collected kids. Of all the different styles of writing I’ve done over the years, (song lyrics, fiction, non fiction, etc.) my favorite is poetry. In honor of National Poetry Month, I’m sharing one of my poems titled “Music keeps me sane” with you. One love… Aria
Music keeps me sane
Ascending above the mundane
Music elevates educates
Listen and levitate
Jazz Pop Opera
Country classic rock
Sitting on the dock
Rhythms blue melodies
Musicals and comedies
Watching the blues
Six o’clock news
Not the good BB blues
Bad dissonant short fuses
Nasty negative energy
I need positive synergy
Sounds and musical vibrations
Vital parts of creation
No note is in vain
Music keeps me sane
