My dear deceased mother used to say: “You got to GIVE to GET.” When I was a little girl, I did not understand why she gave money to the Missionary fund and Benevolent fund, but when new school year started, she could only afford to buy us 1 skirt and blouse (girls) 1 pants and shirt (boys) and church clothes. Beautiful Aunt Mamie owned a thrift store and would give us used clothes. We lived on our farm; had lots of food and love, but I wanted cute new clothes like the young actresses wore on television commercials. When I would cry, Mama explained that Missionary Fund goes to poor kids in Africa to support their school and Benevolent fund is for church members who lost their jobs. I’m ashamed to say I would cry more. She would end the conversation by telling me: “One day you’ll understand and thank me.” Fast forward… I was in L.A. going to school full time and working part time, minimum wage. But for the charity of church people and a friend/classmate, dear Barbara Latimer Jennings, I would have gone to bed hungry many a night. The wisdom of those few simple words, “You got to GIVE to GET” have stuck with me all these years.
So, what do you get from giving to the charitable “Free Mama Earth” campaign? Aside from some cool “Free Mama Earth” gear, there is the satisfaction & knowledge that you are doing something positive to help save the environment for our children and future generations. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/free-mama-earth/x/10024608
