Gravity on Earth exists whether you believe or not. If you jump off a skyscraper, they will be scraping your remains off the sidewalk. I wish I could just say I don’t believe 21st century slavery is real and slavery all around the world would magically disappear. Unfortunately, as I write these words, enslaved people are being abused and exploited. I am thankful that nonprofit organizations like International Justice Mission https://ijm.org are working hard to help free individual slaves and eradicate the evil institution of slavery.
Although the support for our #StopSlavery campaign has been overwhelmingly positive, there are a few people who said it’s a scam and you should not make a donation with your credit card. These same people will use their credit cards at Target, Home Depot and other retailers (offline and online) even after these businesses admitted they were scammed and customers’ credit cards and personal information were stolen.
I used my credit card to donate to #StopSlavery campaign. I can’t do everything, but I have to do something. I am wearing a different dress every day of December and seeking support to #StopSlavery. 100% of the money we raise through https://support.dressemberfoundation.org/fundraise?fcid=372272 is donated to International Justice Mission.
I found the black dress I wore December 1, 2014 in this pic from a consignment store in Paris. There was no label, so I don’t know the name of the designer. On my way back home from the MIDEM music conference in Cannes, France, I had a delightful time hanging out with friends in Paris.
